Romania or Bust!

In March, I am going to Romania!

We'll be in Brasov, which is here:

And it looks like this:

I am going with Orthodox Christian Fellowship's Real Break program in order to do some community service work there.

While on the trip, I will be working with eleven other students at two places in Brasov, Romania. The first is a local school for blind children. It is only facility for blind students in Romania, and many of the students there have other disabilities as well. We will be spending time interacting with students one-on-one. The other place we will be working is called A Step to the Future, which is a social integration center for young people who grew up in the orphanages. Many of you know that a large proportion of Romania’s children live on the street and in orphanages. Once they turn 18, however, they can no longer stay in the orphanages, and do not have the kind of support they need to start an adult life of their own. Currently, there are about 10 or 12 young men residing at the center. We will be renovating their hallway, and spending our evenings there with the residents and helping teach a little English through conversation. While in Romania, we will also visit the Sambata Monastery for Sunday services and some local historical sites.

Basically, this is pretty awesome. However, I have to raise money in order to go.

So, if you want to help support us as we go aid our brothers and sisters in the name of Christ, first pray for us. Then, go to this site and donate. Even $5, $10, $20 makes a difference. Your money goes to support God's work through us and through these organizations, as well as God's work in us. Of course, I will be sure to post/e-mail/write about my time in Romania.

Don't forget!

Love,
Erin

UPDATE: The OCF website has recently been updated. I changed the links to reflect the changes!
