Check out this quotation from Prince Charles, future king of England:

Startlingly, he [Prince Charles] went on to suggest that the Islamic world has just as much respect for women’s rights and maybe more than Europe, “since Islamic countries like Turkey, Egypt and Syria gave women the vote as early as Europe did its women—and much earlier than Switzerland!” with equal pay and a “full working role.”
That man is deluded. A lot of people make a big deal about his trips to Athos, and his interest in the Orthodox Church, but I really hope that Orthodox Christians consider his stance on Islam before they start singing his praises as a friend of the Faith. He's talking out of both sides of his mouth--lauding Turkey for it's purportedly advanced women's rights while seeking spiritual counsel from and associating himself with the very same church which the Turks have been persecuting for centuries, even to this day. Turkey is not exactly the paragon of a modern Muslim state. It's not even actually a Muslim state to begin with. I wonder what the monks on Athos think about the Turks...

Anyways, I just think its silly to say that some Muslim nations are far advanced on the issue of women's rights, when there are all other sorts of human rights violations occurring: Denial of Armenian genocide for Turkey, persecution of Copts and other Christians in Egypt, and let's not even get started with Syria.

Thank God that we know that He that is in us, and with us, is greater than he that is in the world.
